About

The ICOS Student Advisory Group is a welcoming space where international students can share their voices, support ICOS’ work, and highlight the contribution of international students to Irish society. By joining, you will help ensure that these perspectives are heard and understood at national level. Meetings are organised by ICOS staff and take place in a safe, respectful space where all contributions are valued.
 

Objectives 

As part of the ICOS Student Advisory Group, you will have a chance to:

  • Join a diverse group of international students who share their voices and experiences with ICOS.  
  • Discuss the challenges that international students are currently facing in Ireland and explore possible ways to address them.  
  • Help ICOS better represent the wider international student community.
  • Take part in ICOS’ campaigns, surveys and advocacy to help bring international student perspectives to a national audience.

Membership

  • The Advisory Group will consist of up to 10-12 Members who are appointed by ICOS.
  • International students in English language students, higher education, or recent graduates from an Irish college or university are eligible to apply.
  • Members are appointed for one academic year (September 2025 – June 2026).
  • The Advisory Group is a completely voluntary role. Travel expenses will be covered for members who live outside Dublin and attend in person meetings.

Meetings 

The Advisory Group will meet for approximately 90 minutes on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, 21 October 2025 
  • Tuesday, 4 December 2025 
  • Tuesday, 13 January 2026  
  • Tuesday, 24 March 2026
  • Tuesday, 19 May 2026
  • Tuesday, 16 June 2026

  • Meetings may be held online or in-person.
  • At least four members must be present for each meeting to go ahead. 
  • The main commitment is to attend these meetings. There may also be occasional requests for input on ICOS’ advocacy work as well as opportunities to become involved in other activities between meetings. 

Member Commitments

Members of the Student Advisory Group agree to: 

  • Contribute actively to the Student Advisory Group and attend at least four of the six meetings.
  • Support ICOS’ work by sharing insights and perspectives that can inform campaigns and research.
  • Respond to Advisory Group related emails in a timely way.
  • Be polite, respectful, and not discriminate against others.
  • Let ICOS know if unable to attend an Advisory Group meeting. 
  • Not share confidential information.
  • Not misrepresent the Student Advisory Group or ICOS.

Please note that places are limited. If we receive a large number of applications, not all applicants may be selected.
