Non-EEA student work permissions: Adjustment to holiday periods from September 2016

Posted on

The Immigration service (INIS) has announced a change to the working entitlements of students on a Stamp 2 Visa. From 1 September 2016, students will be allowed to work full-time (up to 40 hours) during the months of June, July, August and September as well as for one month from 15 December to 15 January. Previously full-time work had been allowed in May but not in September.

This means that non-EEA students are now able to work full-time during two periods of the year:

Summer: 1st June to 30th September (4 months)

Winter: 15th December to 15th January (1 month)

At all other times, a limit of 20 working hours per week applies. These are maximum weekly figures rather than average figures.
