ICOS AGM 2019

11:00-13:00, June 13, 2019

National College of Ireland

ICOS’ 2019 AGM, as in other years, will offer members the opportunity to influence decisions about the organisation’s future. The Board and staff will report on 2019 activities and also ask members to consider future plans and challenges. This year, we are as usual, seeking new talent for our Board and have a number of vacancies to fill as well as a new membership application to consider.

After 14 years’ service as ICOS’ Director, this will be Sheila Power’s final AGM and all going well with the current recruitment campaign, we hope to have the opportunity to introduce ICOS’ new Executive Director who will take over from Sheila later in the summer.

ICOS’ 2018 AGM, as in other years, will offer members the opportunity to influence decisions about the organisation’s future. The Board and staff will report on 2017 activities and also ask members to consider future plans and challenges. In the context of a changing HE landscape, is ICOS’ current organisational structure fit-for-purpose and are we flexible and responsive enough on the issues we feel passionate about and which impact on our sector? As usual, we are also seeking new talent for our Board and have a number of vacancies to fill, as well as two new membership applications to consider.

Effective Orientation of International Students – Are we getting it right?

Early student engagement and positive first impressions are key ingredients for a successful and rewarding student experience. It is crucial, therefore, that a lot of consideration and planning should go into the development of effective orientation programmes for all students. Drawing on expertise and experience from both at home and abroad, the ICOS seminar this year will consider different approaches to student orientation.

ICOS’ 2017 AGM, as in other years, will offer members the opportunity to influence decisions about the organisation’s future. The Board and staff will report on 2016 activities and also ask members to consider future plans and challenges. In 2017, after a period of consultation, we want to present ICOS’ strategic plan for 2017-2021.  We are also seeking new talent for our Board and have a number of vacancies to fill.  In particular, we are seeking a new Chairperson to lead the organisation as Suzanne Buckley, sadly, has completed her term of office and is ineligible for re-election.
